As much as I love the color and frivolity of Mardi Gras, I generally decamp to Jamaica during this week. It’s one of the few holiday periods when the city seems to suspend serious work and I can absent myself from the office without fear of losing every client I have. This year, I’m staying in town and looking forward to a quiet hibernation with books, dogs, food & good movies. Jamaica will have to wait until JUNE !
“If Ever I Cease To Love,” is the Mardi Gras anthem adopted by Rex in the 1870’s. The song includes this refrain:
IF EVER I CEASE TO LOVE, IF EVER I CEASE TO LOVE, MAY WE ALL TURN INTO CATS AND DOGS, IF EVER I CEASE TO LOVE
SPEAKING OF CATS AND DOGS: MY PEANUT HAS A PRETTY GOOD LIFE... ON A LAZY SUNDAY MORNING HE'S ENJOYING THE NEWSPAPER!
